The Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Diversity Council are proud to announce the Colours Conference and Pride Awards Gala! As leaders in workplace Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Business Development, a two-day conference will be offered on Thursday and Friday, May 13th-14th, 2021 and ending with the Pride Award Gala. All events will be held at Atheneum Hotel and International Banquet & Conference Center in downtown Detroit.

The conference will offer best practices and educational support to attendees on the importance of the LGBTQ inclusion in the workplace and supply chains. The Gala will feature a keynote address from trans-advocate, actress and model, Carmen Carrera and an awards presentation where a local leader will be presented with the Allan D. Gilmour award for Outstanding Leadership in Inclusion. Additional awards that will be presented at both the conference and gala include: Small LGBTQ Business of the year; Corporation of the Year; Equity Champion of the Year; and LGBTQ Employee Resource Group (ERG) of the Year. The LGBTQ ERG of the Year award nominations will be submitted by local ERGs and voted on publicly. We hope you see you there!

Allan D. Gilmour Award

Allan D. Gilmour Award for Outstanding Leadership in Inclusion is given to a leader in the community who has pioneered the inclusion of LGBTQ people in the workplace and in the community. The better candidate is a giver to community organizations. The best candidate of this award must have held a C-level position or a leader of a non-profit and/or LGBTQ activist. Personal nominations for this award will not be accepted.

Small Business of the Year Award

Small LGBTQ Business of the Year Award is presented to an entrepreneur or small business owner who identifies as LGBTQ. The candidate should be able to show business growth outcomes over the last 12 months. The better candidate will give back to the LGBTQ community with examples of such giving. The best candidate will have a consistent relationship with the LGBT Chamber.

Equity Champion of the Year Award

Equity Champion of the Year Award is given to an individual who identifies as LGBTQ or Ally which advocates specifically to the LGBTQ community. Can be an activist, or non-partisan government official. The better candidate will be involved in the local LGBTQ community. The best candidate will have a consistent relationship with the LGBT Chamber.

LGBTQ ERG of the year Award

LGBTQ Employee Resource Group (ERG/BRG) of the Year is given to an LGBTQ Business/Employee Resource Group in SE Michigan. This ERG has created programming and training for its employees. The better candidate created and implemented an effective business case for LGBTQ inclusion at their company and involved the local LGBTQ community. The best candidate will also have diversity within the leadership of their ERG with an ally-ship plan and a consistent relationship with the LGBT Chamber.

Corporation of the Year Award

Corporation of the Year Award is given to a company who has the most policies and practices that protect and engage their LGBT employees, customers, and suppliers. The better candidate will be involved in the local LGBT community. The best candidate will have a robust supplier diversity department with LGBTQ inclusion.
