2013 Being Cultural Beings: An Experiential Workshop Presented by the University of Michigan

Through a rich, cultural simulation activity, this workshop will closely examine issues of social interaction, diversity and communication. It will also demonstrate how using experiential learning engages participants on a personal level and helps take the discussion to deeper levels. This structured simulation is an active, fun and thought-provoking strategy for building multicultural understanding. There will be a follow-up discussion (after the activity) that will crystallize the experience and connect it to our workplaces.

The Workshop Will:

  • Explore aspects of human nature, social dynamics, communication and community through an interactive cultural simulation activity.
  • Demonstrate the power of experiential learning as a vehicle for expanding awareness and deepening discussions.
  • Create a memorable shared experience that will serve the participants as a reference point for future discussions.
